This page explains what desicalculator.in stores in your browser, why, and how you can switch it off. Our rule is simple: apart from the essentials, nothing is switched on without your permission.
What are cookies?
Cookies and "local storage" are small text files a website keeps in your browser so it can remember your choices next time.
1. Essentials (always on, only on your device)
Without your permission Desi Calculator sets no tracking cookies. These are kept only in your browser’s local storage and are never sent to us:
- Settings (
dc_prefs,dc_sound_on): theme, colours, contrast, text size, Cute/Classic look and sound on/off. - Saved results and badges (
dc_saved,dc_badge_…): results you chose to save and badges you earned. - Simple calculator (
dc_mem,dc_tape): memory (M+) and recent calculations. - Cookie choice (
dc_cookie_consent): whether you allowed Analytics and personalised ads. - DESI ID login (
desi_session,desi_state): real cookies, set only if you log in with DESI ID.desi_sessionkeeps you logged in for up to 30 days or until you log out;desi_stateis a 10-minute security check during login.
Clearing your browser data removes all of these.
2. Analytics (only with your permission)
Only if you press "Allow all" in the cookie box or switch on "Analytics" do we load Google Analytics 4. It tells us:
- which calculators and pages are used most
- whether people visit from a phone or a computer, and which browser
- roughly which state or city a visit came from
It never receives the amounts, dates or other details you type into a calculator, and it does not give us your name, phone number, email or full IP address. Google Analytics stores the cookies _ga and _ga_<ID> (for up to 2 years). See Google’s Privacy Policy. If you press "Essential only", Google Analytics is not loaded at all.
3. Ads: Google AdSense
To pay for running the site we may show ads from Google AdSense. Ad companies’ cookies (such as Google’s __gads, __gpi) do two jobs:
- Personalised ads: ads based on your interests. This happens only with your permission, when you press "Allow all" in the cookie box or switch on "Personalised ads".
- Without permission: you still see ads, but they are not personalised, and we signal Google to keep ad cookies off (Google Consent Mode). Google may still use limited data to prevent fraud and count ads.

4. Other services
- Google Fonts: the site’s lettering comes from Google Fonts. While loading a font Google can see your IP address, but no cookie is stored for this.
- Cloudflare: the site runs on Cloudflare. To protect against attacks, Cloudflare may set a security cookie when needed.
- DESI ID: if you log in, DesiTechnology’s (desitechnology.com) own cookie and privacy policy apply.
How to change your choice
Press "Cookie settings" in the footer of any page to change your choice at any time. When you withdraw permission, the Analytics and ad cookies are deleted. If Global Privacy Control is on in your browser, we treat it as a "no" to both Analytics and personalised ads.
